Preserving Albemarle County's Scenic Beauty

Albemarle County, which surrounds Charlottesville, Virginia is known for its vistas of rolling hills, pasture and horse farms set against the backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains.  Of course, like anywhere else, there has also been residential development.  However, Albemarle still has many acres of contiguous open countryside remaining.

One of the factors that has contributed to the preservation of this rural landscape has been the presence of a healthy agricultural economy.  This industry includes horse farms, beef cattle production, and vineyards.  In order to keep the beauty of the greater Charlottesville area, we all need to remember that it is necessary to keep a balance between farmland and development.  In order for this to happen the agricultural industry irural countrysiden the area must remain the ecconomically vital business that it is now.
